Reach for an enema boys because Ssion is invading bars all across the America and making their west coast debut this fall. Judging by their pictures and their sound… they are hungry!! If you don’t know who Ssion is well you’ve been missing out on some hot, flavorful, colorful tracks. Glass Candy has remixed one of their tracks, you can see the video for it riiight here: You can hear some of their tracks on the Ssion MySpace page, which boasts one of the largest line ups I’ve seen sin

I like Bad Dudes, and I KNOW you guys like Bad Dudes too, cause everyone likes Bad Dudes. And your google searches prove it. I like RTX. They played at the Prospector with Tweak Bird many moons ago, and I totally missed out because I didn’t know I liked them. I was pretty pissed about it, which is how you’re going to feel if you miss them tonight. I like Earthless but iono if you guys like Earthless. I don’t really care, either, but if you don’t know you can find out tonight at Spaceland, c
Meet the multifaceted Alisha Westerman. She has been a solo act for years, but recently she has created a few new projects. Her father, Llewellyn Westerman, is a musician-turned-sailor who resides in the Virgin Islands. He has been a major influence on the Alisha’s laid back, whimsical, Indie, Caribbean, “be-careful-because-hurricanes-do-haunt-the-islands” style. Her vocals have been featured on tracks by Steve Aoki, 60 Watt Kid, 2Mex and Ikey Owens of the Mars Volta. Alisha and her sisters (pic

Clara Engel this total babe who lives in Toronto. I’ve been watching her via myspace for awhile now and I must admit - I have remained pretty smitten, but I’ve been trying to keep her as a secret because her songs are really intimate and my smitten-ness is very near the borderline of becoming a serious crush. Her songs range from gritty, dirty, despair-filled love ballads (complete with necessary and melodramatic brooding) to straight up depictions of S & M fantasties. She is awesome and insp
This is just another one of the kinda awesome things that the dude from Fall Out Boy is up to. The show’s called FNMTV (FN, because it airs on “Friday Night” and, obviously, it’s short for everyone’s favorite 4-letter-word-turned-gerund-turned-adjective. Punny.) and it features music videos and exclusive live performances from upcoming artists that you may (or may not) have heard about. Before I saw this videoo, I would’ve been pretty sure that the general MTV audience, and even Mr. Simpson
The legendary Grace Jones will release a new album, entitled, Hurricane, October 2008. I am so excited!!! She has recently released a video for one of her new songs, “Corporate Cannibal”. The song is really hot and scary, with haunting lyrics like “I’m a man eating machine” and “I’ll consume my consumer’s with no sense of humor.” I want to simultaneously dash to the nearest dance floor/bury myself under a huge pile of clothes in the closet. I wonder if she has been hanging out with

Todd Rundgren played a show in SF tonight. He played lots of new songs from his forthcoming album Arena (2008), you can hear some of the tracks from his new album on his myspace page. It was two hours of classic rock, he tried to do some jump kicks that almost worked, toward the end he took off his shirt and displayed his aging pasty white body, lots of funny commentary inbetween songs and the crowd ranged from young blond screaming girls to really old fat conservative men to devout middle aged rocker
Today I woke up way late in an unfamiliar bed, grabbed my clothes and started to walk to BART so I could get home. As I headed into the station at 16th and Mission I heard dark, brooding vocals and angry guitar strokes — a definite plus when stumbling through a hangover. Then I caught eyes with the boy playing and thought yum!! who the fuck is this??? The Ferocious Few are awesome! They have stepped off the computer and taken their music to the streets, which is unbelievably Shakespearean of th
In Gowan Ring and Birch Book luckily have the same singer/songwriter writing the music and playing the same/similiar hand made guitars… Each band incorporates my favorite elements of folk music; wafting vocals, mellow guitar plucks, yummy accompaniment, gentle-soothing lyrics, 60’s style dress, and an overall free flowing sound — I’m not lying or over exaggerating when I compare them to Nick Drake or Marc Bolan acoustic. A few years ago I saw them play a house show with Nick Castro an
Who the hell are these betches?!? In their own words, “so its basically like this…. bob plays guitar the way nadia sings and nadia sings the way bob plays guitar. and sydney….she fucking gets it man.” In case that doesn’t sell you, lemme give you my version: Hailing from the Tri City Area then moving to Olympia, singer Nadia totally understands angst, boredom, Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, and The Gossip. She’s been there. She’s done that. And she got smoked out. Then she star
